The Studio House owned by the Württembergischer Kunstverein, which is located on a street called Im Schellenkönig, was built in the late nineteen-sixties by the Stuttgart architect Paul Stohrer. It lodges nineteen art studios, and since 2009 it has also provided international artists with a temporary residence. In 2011 the Studio House was renovated with funds provided by the Kunstverein coffers and the support of the City of Stuttgart. By furnishing inexpensive studio space, the Kunstverein has been providing, for over forty years now, a working basis for local artists. All artists who are members of the Württembergischer Kunstverein can apply for a vacant studio space. The rental agreements run for only two years and may be renewed for no longer than two additional years.
