Introduction

On the occasion of the 2006 World Cup, the “Fanshop of globalisation” project discusses globalisation processes, taking football as an example. Based on the five theme areas “Value Creation”, “Networking”, “Migration”, “Cultural Images” and “Social Divide”, the aim is to demonstrate and explain parallels between football and globalisation. The fan shop of globalisation pursues two objectives: to explain global processes of economisation by example of football and to interpret and understand football from a wider perspective. The main display and instrument of the fan shop will be shirts of teams from around the world, modified and with information on the background and consequences of globalisation.
