JORGE RIBALTA

Jorge Ribalta ist Künstler, Forscher, Herausgeber und freischaffender Kurator.  

EINZELAUSSTELLUNGEN
Einzelausstellungen seiner Werke waren unter anderem in den Galerien Zabriskie (New York und Paris), Casa sin Fin (Madrid) und angelsbarcelona (Barcelona) zu sehen. Die Einzelschau Monument Machine wurde 2015 im Museo Guerrero (Granada) sowie in der Fundación Helga de Alvear (Cáceres) und sein jüngstes Projekt Renaissance. Szenen des industriellen Wandels im Bergbaurevier von Nord-Pas de Calais im CRP Centre Régional de la Photographie Nord-Pas-de-Calais (Douchy-les-Mines, 2015-16) gezeigt.

GRUPPENAUSSTELLUNGEN
Ribalta nahm an zahlreichen Gruppenausstellungen teil, darunter New Photography 10 (MOMA, New York, 1994), Fragments (MACBA, Barcelona, 1996), Sets and Situations (MOMA, New York, 2000), Playgrounds (Museum Reina Sofia, Madrid, 2014) sowie die erst kürzlich im Württembergischen Kunstverein Stuttgart beendete Ausstellung Die Bestie ist der Souverän.

KURATORISCHE PROJEKTE
Zu seinen kuratorischen Projekten zählen unter anderem die Ausstellungen Universal Archive. The condition of the document and the modern photographic utopia (MACBA, Barcelona, 2008), A Hard, Merciless Light. The Worker-Photography Movement, 1926-1939 (Museum Reina Sofia, Madrid, 2011) und Not Yet. On the Reinvention of Documentary and the Critique of Modernism (Museum Reina Sofia, Madrid, 2015).

HERAUSGEBER
Ribalta ist Herausgeber von Publikationen wie Public Photographic Spaces. Propaganda Exhibitions from Pressa to Family of Man, 1928-1955 (MACBA, 2009), The Worker Photography Movement, 1926-1939. Essays and Documents (Museum Reina Sofia, Madrid, 2011) und Not Yet. On the Reinvention of Documentary and the Critique of Modernism. Essays and Documents, 1972-1991 (Museum Reina Sofia, Madrid, 2015).

Von 1999 bis 2009 war er Leiter des Diskurs- und Veranstaltungsprogramms des MACBAs.
