Dripping Sounds, 2002 - 2003
AV-Installation
"Dripping Sounds" is an experimental set-up, approaching the interaction of minimalism, interactive art and visual music in a transparent way. Light sensors attached to a disc are lit up by pointing spotlights standing behind a flat aquarium. There is a pipette above the aquarium. Triggered by the movements of visitors black ink is dripping into the aquarium. In the water the ink is dissolving into amorphous forms and creates a random alteration of the signal (contrast light/dark) on the sensor disc. The altered signal regulates the structure of the sound composition that is stored on a computer. The digital atmosphere of the minimalist sound structure has its counterpart on a visual level.
