The dance piece Hoomans by choreographer Smadar Goshen deals with the unadulterated view of the uniqueness of the human being. By revealing the individual details that make up the human being, a naked and honest look at the exposed "other" is made possible. The audience is invited to join this search for intimacy that brings us humans together. What do we define as human and what is already "uncanny"? How much are we really open to see and accept each other with our whole being? How do closeness and encounter come about in our society, which is characterised by alienation and reticence? How can we reclaim communication and authentic connection? Hoomans zooms the audience in close to the dancers Selina Koch, Andrea Perez, Bar Gonen and Theophilus Vesely, allowing an unadulterated view of the details of the moving body and its diverse behaviours and characteristics. A stage set that separates performers and spectators through a kind of shop window plays with the conviction that people can also meet in a "safe space" and experience closeness and intimacy while at the same time being in a position where they are presented, observed and examined.

Smadar Goshen
Smadar Goshen is a freelance dancer, choreographer and dance teacher from Israel who completed her Bachelor's degree in Dance and Master's degree in Choreography at the Jerusalem Academy for Music and Dance. She has been living and working in Stuttgart since 2019. Her first piece as a choreographer Urbania was performed at the invitation of the "shades in dance festival" at the Suzanne Dellal Center, Tel Aviv. Since then she has created and presented her work internationally at various festivals and competitions and has worked with various choreographers such as Ariel Cohen, Sahar Azimi and Shron Zukerman. Her first piece Peninsula Flora, created in Germany and performed at HuMBase Stuttgart, received great attention last year.
