Yvonne P. Doderer

Workshop: Teil 1
11. - 15. September 2006

It’s all urban! Phantasies, productions and politics of contemporary cities
By introducing some theories of urban space production and by analyzing certain concepts of urbanism and spatial planning, this workshop focus not only on cities which are concerned by mass events like the FIFA world cup and it’s various consequences for the social, cultural and economical life in these cities. Furthermore and by reading cities as societal spaces and as spaces of ideologies, the political context of these events can be discussed in the frame of hegemony, dualism and nationalism as well as of resistance, identity politics and transgression within local and global urban situations and developments.
